It’s Good For The Soul - Charity Album

To say thank you for caring so well for local young people with terminal illness, breaks music producer Simon Tagg aka Kouncil House put the call out to his contacts book and created a block busting album of exclusive tracks from some of the world’s biggest acts.

It's Good For The SoulReleased digitally through leading download store trackitdown.net in June on his respected ADHD Digital label. All proceeds raised through paid for download will be donated to the worthy cause.

Testament to the old skool empathy of the underground dance community and the power of the new skool digital era, 45 amazing breaks, house, dubstep and drum and bass tracks came flying in from such heavyweights as; Justin Robertson, Brookes Brothers, Slipmatt, Meat Katie, Krafty Kuts, Leeroy Thornhill and Deekline & Wizard.

‘It’s a pleasure to be involved in such a great project in such good company’ says acid house legend Robertson, while Brookes Brothers agree ‘[that] there’s not enough projects like these for producers like us to get involved in.’

Simon Tagg was also motivated by the recent and sad loss of his mother who helped inspire this payback project and he dedicates all the effort and hard work to her memory.

Ellenor Lions Hospice is based in Greenhithe in Kent and will benefit from any proceeds raised by the digital sale of this amazing package of cutting edge tracks. For many years they have worked in the local community to help people with terminal illness act in comfort and dignity, and all involved agree that this is a worthy cause; ‘it’s for a great cause and everyone should want to get involved’ states drum and bass godfather Mickey Finn.

Trackitdown.net is the UK’s leading dance music download store with well over 200,000 DJ’s registered as customers giving this project a great platform upon which to launch. Founder Ed Real states; ‘we really hope that every one of our customers and the wider dance music community seriously consider downloading this album – even regardless of the good cause, this is one serious set of tracks for the biggest acts on the planet!’

Join Me On Last.FM

I’m always on the lookout for fresh new music as well as reminiscing about oldskool stuff too. Most of the time I have either Hed Kandi radio playing during the day, or a bit of Radio 1 if I fancy it but I have come across something much better.

Last.fmhttp://last.fm is an intelligent online radio station. Once you have registered, you can enter artists that you like and Last.fm will play you tracks from those artists as well as from producers in a simmilar genre and style. This is very much in the same way that Pandora used to work but Last.fm have the whole social networking thing attached too making it easy for you to share your favourite tracks and create playlists from the music that you like.

One downside is that not all of the music is avaiable at the same volume, so you will find yourself reaching for that dial quite a few times. But the major plus side is that Last.fm will learn the music that you like and over time it will start to suggest better and better tracks for you to listen to. You get to discover new music in the genre that you like that you might not have heard of before!

I’m quite new to the Last.fm thing and I probably havent checked out all of the features, but on the face of it its pretty damn good. Go and take a listen now. Its free and you might just discover a few jems of audio delight that you never knew existed!

MP3WhiteLabel.com

While mooching about the internet, I came across this funky little web site over at www.mp3whitelabel.com. It’s a place for unsigned artists to upload their dance music tracks in order to get more ears listening to thier music and to hopefully snap up a record deal in the process.

www.mp3whitelabel.comThere are a great deal of genres being showcased such as: Acid House, Breaks, Chillout, D ‘n’ B, Dubstep, Electro, House, Experimental, Hard Dance, Hard Trance, Hardcore, Hardstyle, Hip-Hop, House, Leftfield, Minimal, Progressive, R’n'B, Tech-House, Techno and Trance. A little something for everyone there.

Free to use and free to download, not only is this a great resource for fresh new music for DJs, it is also a launch pad for aspiring producers too. If you are an up and coming producer and you could do with a platform for your music other than the chaotic mish-mash jungle of MySpace, you should really do yourself a favour and check out www.mp3whitelabel.com

Mash Up Mix 2008

I picked up the Mash Up Mix 2008 double CD mixed by the Cut Up Boys the other day, and I have to say it rocks!

I am a big fan of mash ups as they provide a little something different to throw into the mix at a hungry dancefloor. There is a certain art to creating a mash-up and the Cut Up Boys who mixed the album have got it absolutely spot on.

There is a huuuge selection of music tracks on this double album ranging from funky house, to electro, to breakbeat and a touch of drum & bass too.

Point Blank FM

I can’t drive without having music of some kind playing in the back ground. Either the radio, or a CD, or whatever mp3 is to hand, I simply have to have music playing.

Stanton Warriors - Remixes

I don’t usually post more than one item a day here, but I just had to make an exception for this.

Over the weekend I picked up a copy of the Stanton Warriors Remixes album. My God!!! It is simply one of the best albums I have ever heard in my life.

I’ve always liked the sound that has come from the Stanton Warriors stables and I am also a bit of a breaks fan. This album is a compilation of 15 killer tracks that have had the Stanton Warriors midas touch applied to them including exclusive tracks you will not find anywhere else.

If you like your breaks, or even just fancy something a little different, then grab a hold of the Stanton Warriors Remixes album.
